Baby Sister

A bit belated, but Max now has a baby sister! Sami was born on 11/20, and Max has proven to be a super big brother.

Autumn

Max and his Dad went hiking this morning. The fall foliage is just now past peak, and it was a gorgeous day. And another truly important milestone was reached - Max peed in the woods for the very first time!! Congratulations, Big Boy!!

Because I care

Max is growing up so fast! I'm lucky if I get a biiiiig hug on the way out the door or before bedtime, but he will watch me drive off to work in the morning and say "I like your license plate!"

A couple of weeks ago, he suddenly decided to be potty trained, and he hasn't even worn a diaper in over a week, except for bedtime. He can even flush, and will put the seat and lid down when he is done!

But nearly every day, we stand at the top of the stairs on our way down, and he puts his arms up and says, practically in tears, "Will you care me?" He can very well walk up and down stairs himself, but always wants me to "care" him. And I always say, "Yes, of course I will care you." Because in about ten more minutes, he's going to ask me to drop him off a block away from the movie theatre so his friends won't see me. So for as long as he wants me to, I will care.

Better Max

Max has been having some terrible two's issues lately. He'll get all in a huff about something, and spend a while crying and being grouchy and throwing things. But then suddenly, as if a switch was flipped, the tears turn off, and he announces, "I all better." I always tell him, "I'm so glad you're better. The Better Max is my favorite one."

Luckily, he's usually more better than not.

Summer Fun

Every Tuesday is Sprinkler Day at Max's school. After a month of Sprinkler Days, he's now the only kid who won't run through the sprinkler. Daddy set out to change that tonight, and after work we set up the sprinkler in the backyard. Max and Dad had a blast, and by the end, Max was shouting "again! again!" So we're hopeful that tomorrow he'll join in the fun with the other kids.

Horrible Eggs

Max's new word is "horrible." As in, "Scooby, you're horrible!" Or, "Dere's a hair in my mouf, it's horrible."

Lately, Max has been enjoying a daily hard-boiled egg. It's great fun to watch it being peeled, and then to bite in and discover the yolk. At nearly every meal, he asks, "Ca'I have egg?" And lately, I've been trying to get him to say "hard-boiled egg." But every time I ask if he's enjoying his hard-boiled egg, he corrects me saying, "Dis egg not horrible!"
